Chalk Circle Writers are excited for all you Eastbourne writers and book fans who now have a brand new literary festival to look forward to this September.

Eastbourne Litfest (25-27 September 2026) is an event very close to our hearts, taking place in a beautiful seaside location within Chalk Circle's Sussex glorious stamping ground!

The festival is designed to appeal to a wide audience, celebrating all storytelling and stories, bringing together readers, promoting the benefits of reading and activating creativity in the community. One of its main sponsors is East Sussex College.

'The LitFest's creative strand is really important to us. We have workshops for all ages focusing on drama, story craft, poetry, non fiction writers and even a slot with the prize winning verse novelist Tia Fisher.

We also have a session for budding comic book artists and a workshop which will use Shakespeare's dialogue as inspiration. There's truly something for everyone.' Jane Branson, Trustee and Director.

Here's what the organisers are looking for. 'This is an open call for bold, original work - whatever matters to you. No theme, no overthinking. Just your voice, your words, your way.'
