Chalk Circle Writers are thrilled to announce the publication of our third anthology of short stories, STRATA 3 - Shifting Tides. The book will be launched on 20 November 2025 at the John Harvey Tavern in Lewes, East Sussex.
New short story collection announced: Shifting Tides, a gripping collection of over twenty-two stories from the seven Sussex-based authors who make up the Chalk Circle writing group: Stuart Condie, Elsa Evripidou, J. Reid Graham, Yvonne Hennessy, Samanthi Munasing, Danielle Sensier, David Stephens.

Once again, we are privileged to feature the brilliant and inspiring artwork of internationally acclaimed John Vernon Lord, V&A Illustrator of the Year 2018, who has illustrated and designed our book cover.
John's artwork perfectly encompasses the themes which underpin our diverse collection of tales. From gritty realism to the eerily supernatural, the hope of new beginnings to the drama of tragic ends, each story encapsulates a moment of change or a new perspective. Characters face transformative encounters. Some rise to the challenge of life’s ebbs and flows, others are cast adrift, and some are lost to the ever-shifting tides.
To whet your appetite, here's a sneak preview featuring snippets from some of the stories.
